Hi Guys,

Sometime ago a topic about mineral deposits in EIR was brought up and a remedy to disolve them. I can't remember what the remedy was to disolve them. I'm experiencing
very small hair-like lines about a 1/4" long and very fine running parallel with the grain.

Is there something that will get them out? Sanding won't do it.

I appreciate your help.

Walter

Rosewood stain is the only remedy I am aware of. A dark rosewood [paste] grain filler will sometimes hide them. I have never had any luck sanding them out as it seems as though the silica runs deep into the pores. I have also used a Sharpie with some success.

Thanks folks...I have already tried vinegar with no luck.. Maybe I'll put a light stain and see if it absorbs the stain.

Thanks, Walter

It really is best just to dig the stuff out and pore fill. I use a surgical scalpel.

I disappear them with a brown Sharpie.

What happens if you just leave them in? Finish incompatability? Just plain ugly? Finish chipping later?

Nothing. They just remain more or less visible.

I haven't tried the Sharpie thing, but why not? It's sure easier then digging it all out. Try that first!
